She called the high school one of the best she had seen and commended the grade work and student discipline. I F P Fuller and Miss Loli Owens married Tuesday at the home of Fuller’s parents two miles southwest of Vernon. Rev B R Bates of the First Methodist Church performed the ceremony. Professor J H Roles Resigns After Wife's Death

Tolbert school principal Professor J H Roles resigns following his wife Mondauy’s death. The widow’s heir was to depart to Hereford Texas but was delayed until Mrs Roles’s parents arrived, then sent for interment. Roles will move to Hereford to care for his small children under grandmother supervision.

BAPTISTS Exceed 75 Million Campaign Total Across South

In the Southern Baptist fundraising drive, leaders report a grand total surpassing 75 million dollars across eighteen southern states. Texas notes a 15.25 million subscription toward a 16 million quota, with Wilbarger County communities such as Olddon and Tolbert over the top. Local reports indicate district pledges reach about 6,000 in Witharger County, while other areas face delays due to recent holidays and travel. Mrs Evie Alpha King was buried at 1 oclock Wednesday morning December 17 at Eastview cemetery Rev John VT Bradbury conducting the funeral services. She was the daughter of J Clemmons, south of Vernon, and died December 15 leaving her husband but no children.

Army Lieutenant Hayden Pidson Visited Vernon with Relatives

Hayden Pidson of Thulis yesterday spent time in Vernon with his aunt Mrs. M A Dixon and cousin J A Dixon. He studied at the University of Texas and attended the first officers training camp at Leon Springs. He served overseas in the drive and was gassed later. he left the service after the armistice and now works with the Texas Stone Company of Dallas, which is building a rock crushing plant near Chico capable of fifty carloads of crushed rock.

Thalia Postoffice Gets Vernon Office Fixtures

Thalia post office will be fitted with fixtures formerly used by Vernon patrons. The Vernon office items including letter boxes and furniture were moved to Thalia after the federal building opened.
