Supreme Court awards lands to Oklahoma in Red River dispute
The U S Supreme Court ruled Oklahoma gains oil rich lands valued at 3.2 billion dollars along the Red River boundary with Texas. The south bank line, not the river center, defines the border per the 1819 treaty with Spain. Frederic A. Delano named receiver for oil proceeds. Texas must halt related permits pending final decision. Assistant AG W Taylor notes the line's location could influence the ongoing dispute over oil lands. Taylor, handling the Texas case, says no further comment before the court's opinion copy is received.
