Uintah Basins Tonnage Prospects From Railroad Link
R R officials received a detailed Uintah Basin tonnage report prepared for the Lions Club. The data project 60 percent of production awaiting railroad delivery at Ver nal and 40 percent, or more, becoming available within a year after rail access. Factories planned by Great Western Sugar Co of Colorado and Amalgamated Sugar Co of Utah could be built in Ashley valley and near Roosevelt, boosting beet production. The report, read to railroad officials by Lions Club president James H. Wallis, aims to show Uintah Basin’s capacity to support regional industry and justify local backing.
