Trappers Battle Wounded Bear in Little Hole
In Little Hole near Vernal on September 14, WPA trappers Andrew and Alonzo Atwood used large dogs to hunt a wounded female bear that had killed four sheep. The chase lasted over an hour with the bear cornered in a lodgepole thicket and taking to a tree before a nose shot finished it. The area has seen multiple big predator sightings, with lions also reported nearby.
