Hunting Wild Dogs Near Eureka Utah
Fields of Eureka Utah and his son Weber have hunted wolves like wild dogs for years in North Tintic. They say a stray female began the pack about seven years ago when she whelped in an old mine tunnel. The inbred, chocolate brown pack now preys on livestock and deer, calves, and small animals, with savagery rivaling a coyote. In spring 1930 Fields spotted twelve chasing deer on Packard Peak, fired at the lead, but missed as the dogs disappeared into rocks.
