Democratic Convention in Uintah County October 22 1892
The Uintah County Democratic gathering at Workman's Hall selected G W Crouch as chairman and E G DeFriez as secretary. Delegates were appointed by credentials committee, nominations for selectmen and other offices were debated, and a campaign committee was formed before adjournment. Afterward Vernal precinct voters named local officers and Republican meetings announced events through Oct and Nov 1892.

Fatal Mine Explosion near Durawaye Coal Mine
A 4 PM explosion at the Champion coal mine near Durawaye injures and kills workers McCloskey and others. Proprieter Andy Shore and lawyer M J McCloskey attempted rescue. McCloskey's body found 60 feet from blast after two hours. Shore survived but burned. townspeople mourn the tragedy and two young daughters lose their mother.
