6 YEAR-OLD LAD STRUCK AT INTERSECTION
Max Davis, six year old son of Mr and Mrs George, was struck at an intersection at 3 PM while crossing Main Street. He passed a car then was hit by a second vehicle from behind as the light changed. Dragged to the center of the intersection, he was spared from being run over, taken to hospital for treatment, then released to his mother with a plan to return home next week.

Elza Kick: Hardy Victim of Oil Well Accident
Hardy was badly injured in a 24 oil well accident Tuesday around 2 or 3 pm at Ashley Creek Hullinger place. He was crushed when a pond valve released windlass, then taken to Uintah County Hospital with multiple fractures and internal injuries reported by his father Nathan Hardy.

Collisions and Rabbit Dodging Injure Six in Utah Roads
A Mercury coupe driven by Raymond Kircher of Alameda collided with an International truck driven by Harry Hardinger near Eskellion Creek on Highway 40. Kircher, his wife Ruby, and Jean Sando Arduine were hospitalized with cuts and bruises. A second crash near Vernal involved Edna Lucas of Chicago and family. Lucas swerved to avoid a white rabbit and rolled down a 210 foot embankment, injuring all aboard and hospitalizing them. Minor damage occurred at the intersection of 6th West and 1st South in another crash between Fred Reynolds and David Rasmussen, with minor injuries reported.

The Lions Club sponsored walking blood bank clinic will operate in Vernal next week with county nurses and doctors aiding. Arden Jolley chairs the drive. 196 residents had blood typed to date. Bonanza and Jensen saw 60 participants. overall 5 people typed in Vernal so far. The free clinic runs Oct 23 7 8 pm Oct 24 1 4 pm and Oct 25 8 pm at the former Stagg Plumbing building.

United Nations Day Program to Be Held in Town Square
A United Nations Day program is planned for Tuesday at 12 45 p m at the intersection of Main Street and Vernal avenue in Vernal City. The event is organized with local groups including the Vernal Line Club Women’s Club and Central School with Mayor Charles Henderson and Dr R E Spendlove on the planning committee. Units from Unit as high school marching band uniformed scouts and local Netlovel case members from the 1334th East peers will take part as the flag is raised for the first time in the area. The patriotic program features music and unity songs performed by Lawrence Lee and Mrs Pearl Snyders Central School music staff. The event is supported by the Vernal Chamber of Commerce and local businesses will close during the program. Homes and business districts are asked to observe United Nations Week and United Nations Day.
