The Vernal federal building, valued at 40 000.06 dollars, is nearing completion. Superintendents Mullins and Himes state the structure will be finished and in use by early November, adding distinctive appeal to Vernal’s business district.
In a communication from Congressman Don Br Colton an Agricultural Year Book for 1924 is announced. Colton says the volume covers highways hay poultry farm credit and other topics of especial interest and value. He wishes to place copies where they will do the most good and invites requests by writing him at Washington DC.
Delinquent stock assessment notices issued by Quray Valley Irrigation Co of Vernal Utah. Directors levied August 10 1925 a 4.00 per share rate on outstanding capital stock. Payment due on or before October 6 1925. Names of stockholders listed.
The new amendment to the hate law requires red caps for deer hunters during a ten day season opening next Tuesday and running to October 36. An ordinary red covering will do if the cap is fully wrapped. hunting is allowed statewide except game preserves and Uintah county Antiloy safeguard areas.
Co. H. Boyles proprietor of the Craig Foundry and Machine Works Craig Colo has opened an in house machine shop to repair oil machinery. The shop includes lathe drill press pipe machine trip hammer and electric welding plant with Ernest Holloway of Seattle Washington in charge.
Last Monday October 12 marked Columbus Day commemorating the 433rd anniversary of Columbus's discovery. Schools statewide held assemblies, parades, ta geanty events and fetes to impress the day’s importance.
Forest rangers from the Ashley Manti Uintah and Wasatch forest districts will convene at Beaver Creek ranger station in the Wasatch range November 3 through 7 to discuss forest conservation and related service issues. Expert instruction will be provided over five days. The Ashley district reports only four small fires last season, controlled before major damage, while public fire awareness and campfire precautions have improved. Stockmen have cooperated to cut fire risk.
The Uintah, the Uintah high school organ at Vernal, released its first issue on Tuesday. Now in its third year, the paper features a neat layout with strong news, editorials, class reports, and humor. Editor Hilda Hodgkinson leads with Burton Chaw as associate editor and Conrad Per as business manager, supported by 14 reporters and two typists.
A. Theodore Johnson of the weather bureau notes Vernon has seen heavy precipitations in the past 45 days. September rainfall measured 1.5 inches while the first eleven days of October added 2.16 inches, raising concerns over excessive moisture beyond the yearly average of 7 inches.
Robert Witmer is erecting a sheet metal shop on a corner across from the Opera House. The build will have prick siding, 33 foot frontage, 36 foot depth, and walls already up. Construction aims to finish by December 1.
A district court team meeting is set for Saturday October 24 at 7 39 PM in Vernal.
