Local travel, concerts, balls, and road conditions are described along with civic projects and upcoming performances.
Dispatches from Tort Duchesne report trouble with the Uncompahgres over a requested delegation to Washington and potential land allotment changes after a storm. Prof Ciluff of the B. C. Academy will visit Ashley Friday and a special teachers meeting is set for Saturday the 16th with a planned lecture by Prof Cloff. Work to restart at the Victoria mine and new owners plan a smelter. a water suit discussion is noted. Sheriff Murdock locates two runaways, Warren Beers and Vat Glines, and arranges custody for Beers subject to parental status and local work assignments.
Notice to qualified electors of Vernal Utah that a petition signed by a majority of electors requests submission of a question whether Vernal shall incorporate as a third class city under Utah law. The question will be on the ballot at the next municipal election on November 2, 1897.
