Forest Service Ranger Returns From Idaho Fire Area
Ashley Forest Service Ranger Glenn Lambert has returned from work in the Salmon River country north of Hotse Idaho after nearly two months on fire control duties. The area is rough and inaccessible with stock removed and feed nearly gone. A wood hauler was fined after a campfire was left burning and nearby timber risked damage. Alger and Wheeler’s Moonlake residence and store burned, traced to gasoline on a stove. Farmers hauled many loads of dry wood, signaling preparations for winter. Mile Deming from the Intermountain Forest and Range Experiment Station is studying erosion in the Colorado River drainage.
