Slades Canyon Road Closed For New York Access

Slades Canyon Road above Hanna in Duchesne County is closed to traffic for seven miles to speed road work. Archer Wirth of the Ashley National Forest says the district hopes to reopen during deer season. Work includes widening and creating areas for unloading parking and camping. The road runs along the east side of Hades Canyon above Defa's Dude Ranch on the North Fork of the Duchesne River and will stay open late in fall due to sun exposure. Lengthening cuts distance to the Grandaddy Lakes area, allowing cars closer to popular fishing spots.
