Million tons of Idaho hay left unsold to growers
Salt Lake City Nov 18 More than a million tons of hay remain unsold in the Snake River valley Idaho as farmers refuse to accept 1760 a ton offered by Intermountain stock growers. Stock has moved into Wyoming this year and cattle are being shipped out for winter feeding while Western Livestock Loan association president T J Wood says the shortage is not solely due to storage issues. If hay had sold earlier cattle might not be shipped to Wyoming and conditions in Idaho differ from other states where range lands dominate. Sixty percent of Wyoming cattle for beet purposes will be fed at Big Hole in Beaverhead county this winter.

The 110 million acres of National Forests are largely grazed by livestock. From 1905 to 1920 range productivity rose 25 to 40 percent due to better estimation of grazing capacity, seasonal grazing, water development, trails and range improvements. The Great Basin Grazing Experiment Station in Utah studies range improvement and forestry practices to sustain long term productivity.
