Death of James H Mease Vernal Utah Pioneer Merchant
James H Mease dies after two years illness at his Vernal home. Born June 13 1861 in Pittsylvania County Virginia he worked as a commercial traveler and later held posts in White Rocks Fort Duchesne and Vernal. He owned the Vernal Liquor House and Mease ranch, served on city council and supported education. He left a wife Miss Sarah Smith and two children James 17 and Patay 7. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Hersey with burial in Vernal cemetery.
