Daggett County Wildcat Stated PacGas Drilling Plan
Daggett County Wildcat Stated PacGas Exploitation Co filed a location with the Utah Oil and Gas Conservation Commission for a 4 750 foot test of the Entrada formation in Daggett County. Pacific's Well No 1 Federal Payne will be drilled 1 980 feet from the South line and 1980 feet from the West line, Section 20, Township 3 North and Range 22 East. The firm is a subsidiary of Pacific Lighting Corp of Los Angeles, parent of three major southern California natural gas distributors. The Daggett venture marks a major joint drilling push with Southern Union Production Co, affiliate of Southern Union Gas Co of Dallas, with a plan for a series of wells yearly within 100 miles of major gas transmission. This is the first wildcat in Daggett County in years, following earlier activity in Clay Basin Fields. Local organizer Duane Stevenson of Citizens for Kennedy Johnson in Utah spoke, introducing Mr Peterson. A shotgun was won as grand door prize, with many other attendees collecting prizes.
