On May 21 a meeting of Ashley Valley citizens considered securing a drill and testing an artesian well. Proposals ranged from private drilling at 6 dollars per day to county purchase of a machine. Committees were formed to present the plan to the County Court and possibly call another meeting.
Justice Parks bound over W. W. Juvans in People vs Powers after four witnesses testified he swore at David Woodruff's home on May 18 that Arkansaw men identified Powers as the man who narcotized Caldwell's horse. Evans denied the statement under oath in the dope case. Bail set at $1509. bonds posted. defendant free until September grand jury sitting.
