New Churchkaid School Highlights Tall of Century
In Maple Ward Naptes Ward records show early progressives building a brick church house and new school by 1900 1904 with dedicated masonry led by Arthur Gardiner and team. Volunteers hauled timber mined on Dry Fork Mountain, and logs from local mills supported by coal and wood heat later electrified in 1914. A two story school addition completed by 1914 and a nearby grocery store aided community growth amid sparse early resources.
