Pharmacists Convene 63rd Annual Convention in Vernal Utah

Utah pharmacists gather in Vernal May 15 to 17 for their 63rd annual convention chaired by Glenn Cooper. Highlights include a golf tournament, tours of Ashley Valley oil fields, a Sunday banquet and entertainment, a Merkley Park barbecue with Indian War dances, and Frontier Airlines flights over Echo Park damsite. Monday features a morning session with Mayor Ralph Siddoway and talks by Dr. Ewert Swinyard, Lewis Gill, and Dr. George Spendlove. Tuesday includes R M Boyle on hydrocortisone, officer elections, and a luncheon by J B Heinz of the American Pharmaceutical Association.

Uintah Duchesne Officials Attend Regional Conference Here

Uintah and Duchesne county city officials attended a regional municipal conference sponsored by the Utah Municipal League. A panel of authorities including Col Ellsworth Weaver and E Ray Christensen answered questions on municipal finance streets waterworks licensing and more at a Vernal luncheon during the two sessions.

Vernon Man Heads Uintah Basin Auto Dealers

Lloyd Eaton, Hudson dealer in Vernal, was named president of the Uintah Basin Automobile Dealers Association at a Grill Cafe Roosevelt meeting. Don Showalter passes as area chairman. Nine Boys State Delegates Named for Utah Camp

Nine boys will attend the Utah Boys State at Camp W. G. Williams from July 8 to 16. Transportation provided by Witbeck Post No. 11. The program aims to train youth in citizenship and government, originated in Illinois in 1934 and now used in 48 states.

Librarians Urge New County Library For Uintah Area

USAC librarians visiting Uintah County praised the new high school library and urged a central new county library building. They cited overcrowding in the public library and recommended a modern central facility with dedicated spaces for genealogy, children, and study to boost community reading and summer programs for students.

Pacific Northwest Pipeline Contracts Expected Soon

Pacific Northwest Pipeline Corp expects soon to award contracts for eight major pipe laying segments on the Ignacio to Bellingham line. Surveying and permits are underway as workers aim for five miles daily of 26 and 22 inch pipe while the SEC clears financing for the 1,466 mile gas project from Ignacio Colorado to Bellingham Washington.

Uintah County Retail Service Station Association Formed

Uintah County service station operators will meet at the Gateway Cafe Friday at 6 p.m. to set meeting dates and elect officers for a new association. Don Richardson was chosen temporary chairman. The group represents a major Vernal industry and will address operator problems as 75 workers earn about $21 000 monthly.

Five permits were issued in Vernal for April. Showalter Motor Co. gets a neon sign at 100 East Main for 1070 dollars. Royal B Henderson adds living quarters and remodels front at 251 East Main for 2500 dollars. Standard Saddle Tree builds a storage and workshop at 440 East 1st South for 51500. Dr Dan Q Price finishes two bedrooms at 470 South 2nd West for 2000 dollars. E R Collins remodels kitchen and shingles room at 192 North and West for 400 dollars.

Vernal Chamber Calendar Boosts Event Planning

The Vernal Chamber of Commerce reports growing use of its Community Event Calendar for planning parties weddings meetings and other affairs. Calendar committee chaired by Isla King along with Lillian Henderson and Ethel Bowden notes expanding access including group presidents officers and event dates. The service lists church activities club meetings high school events sports dances civic gatherings and special occasions available by calling the Chamber office at 285.

Crash Injures N't. Duchesne Mother at Vernal

A 32 year old Ft. Duchesne woman Betty Hazel Paw winnee was injured in a Vernal area crash while riding with her husband Clyde and two children Zelda 8 and Eph 4. The 1954 pickup ran off the county road near the Vernal City dump grounds, hit a barrow pit and a fence before stopping. Betty was treated for head injuries at Utah County hospital. damage to the truck was $500. Citations pending investigation by Sgt Hi Farah.

Vernal Officials Target Unsanitary Conditions in City

Vernal City Council directed police to医onn residents violating sanitary ordinances to explain needed actions and seek cooperation. The ordinance bans improper waste sites and close livestock facilities to within 100 feet of homes or businesses. Violators face misdemeanor fines up to 299 and six months in jail.
