Shell Service Station to Rise on Corner of Postoffice
A $12 000 Shell service station is planned on the corner west of the Federal Building. Construction starts Monday and should finish by May 15. Ash ton Bros supervise with Rae Ashton in charge and Bus Hatch doing most work. The 75 by 100 foot lot will feature three gas pumps, two rest rooms, a grease room, wash room and store room with entrances from the east and south. Ashton Bros hold Shell distribution across Wasatch and nearby counties and operate other Shell stations in Roosevelt and Duchesne. Gasoline from Heber City storage tanks will feed the new station.

Funeral services for Mrs Ardis Griffis Wall were held Sunday at the Jensen ward house conducted by Amasa Caldwell. The services featured a quartette and selections. the grave was dedicated by George O Massey. She died March 21 at Vernal hospital at age 36, survived by her husband Chandus Walt and infant daughter, plus relatives in Vernal and nearby towns.

Former Uintah County Treasurer Dies at 47 in Salt Lake
James H Fowlks 47 former Uintah County treasurer and architectural draftsman died Tuesday night in a Salt Lake hospital after stomach surgery. Survived by widow Ora Fowlks a daughter Hetty his brother William Fowlks of California and three sisters Mrs E J Fitzgerald of Cottonwood Mrs Richard Smith and Mrs Effie Freeman of Tri-City. He had lived in Vernal and practiced civil engineering and served as county treasurer for years.
