John Robert Clark died at Salt Lake hospital on Monday March 6 after a lingering illness. Born April 28, 1907 in Vernal, he lived in Altonah for years. Survived by widow Grace Aleam Wismer Club, father George Clark, two brothers Albert and Eugene, and three sisters Ethel Bela, LaVon Burke, and Lizzie L Clark. Buried in Altonah City Cemetery.

California Company Shut Down at Rangely Colorado
Rangely special report says a deep test well in the Rangely field shut down temporarily on March 2 after drilling reached 7173 feet in a hard formation. Equipment then reached 10100 feet in California fields. Employees were given a two week vacation and transferred to California. Camp left intact with two watchmen on site. California company entered Rangely field March 23 1931 and work on a 136 foot steel derrick began April 22 with drilling starting June 1.

Bridge accident injures four workers on icy span
