A Utah group led by Benedict and Armstrong study costs to reclaim Dry Fork Canyon waters for irrigation. They propose moving surplus upper valley water to reclaim waste lands without harming current farmers. Engineer Armstrong to survey work and cost, with a meeting at Mack and plans for Grand Junction.
After years in Vernal Larry Hudson promoter and placer miner returned to Mack where he met a woman and a child he believed were dead in the San Francisco disaster. His wife and baby, thought killed, were alive and traveling to meet him.
A chaotic collision on a road ends with a buggy demolished and three horses unhurt after a scramble to control the runaway conveyance. Walter McCoy purchases a new buggy, while a small boy attempts to intervene as townsfolk restrain the team near Woodard's furniture store. A separate note promotes a Spinster's convention with local speakers and a makeover act.
In a Utah Territory session, George Young v D O Mackey goes to trial with a guilty verdict on the Gold Brick conspiracy charge against W A Brittain and H H Blake. Sentencing set for June 19, while other cases including Libble Workman and Maud Carter involve custody, property and bond issues. Sam Brown cases are dismissed for lack of evidence. Deputy Dillman named Uintah county game warden as authorities tighten enforcement.
Colton Sr returned home Monday and met with the State Board of School Building Construction. He presented Maeser building plans. Architect Wathing, who oversaw Vorna Central and the Court House projects, sat as the board’s architect member.
Rose and wife have leased three years on the Burton Lake resort from Jas Stichardson. Mr and Mrs Rose bring laundry experience and plan to convert the dance hall into a drying room. They will run a delivery wagon to serve the area.
