Narrow Escape as Calf Dragged Four Year Old Girl

A four year old girl of Rev. M. J. Hersey survived after being dragged by a pet calf across the yard while playing rope games. She suffered unconsciousness and a suspected brain clot, later ruled nervous shock. no bones were broken though the child was badly bruised. The incident occurred near Whiterocks and Roogavelt country, with parents rushing home from Salt Lake to care for her.

Death of Jimmie Barker Founder of Vernal Express

Jimmie Barker a longtime Uintah County resident and early Ashley Creek settler is found dead in his garden near his cabin last Sunday. An inquest by Justice of the Peace Frank Orser at Roosevelt was summoned. cause of death remains unknown though heart trouble is suspected. Barker wore only his night clothes and a single rubber shoe at the time of discovery.
