Sharp Phosphate Production Cut For One Year Starts Saturday
San Francisco Chemical Company announces a temporary drastic reduction in operations at the Brush Creek phosphate plant. Crews will drop from 36 to 19 after the turn around, with the reduced schedule lasting 32 months. The cut reflects a stockpile buildup at Garfield, Utah, from a single customer Western Phosphate Inc. The move aims to shift milling and mining to fewer shifts while seeking new users for the material and potential new facilities nearby.
