Dinosaur Ceremonies Mark 3 Year County Project

County commissioners reviewed a sketch for a new county building with Salt Lake architect Lorenzo Young and plan revisions to be discussed June 14. An earlier Lions Club dedication celebrated a 74 foot diplodocus dinosaur skeleton at Utah Field House in Vernal, with molds from Carnegie Museum and a 8 ton replica occupying the lawn as the public learned about the project’s long history and significance.

Valuation Trial On Ute Lands Set Aug 12 in Denver

A valuation trial to determine compensation for about 3.7 million acres of Ute lands ceded under the 1872 Brunch Treaty will begin August 12 in Denver. The Vernal Chamber of Commerce board voted to accept an invitation to visit American Gilson tte and hold their regular meeting soon in Bonanza. They cited Lions convention accommodation limits, noting 1 093 reservations were made and only 750 units exist, with many cancellations reducing the need for private homes. A petroleum geologists convention is set for Vernal on June 13.

Walker Named Uintah Basin Seminary Coordinator

Uintah Stake President Frank R Walker, formerly Vernal Seminary principal, is appointed coordinator of semaries in the Uintah Basin. A BYU graduate born 1911 in Pleasant Grove, he has 15 years teaching experience and has served as bishop and stake official in Uintah. He is married to Helen Henderson and studied for a master's at BYU.

Vernal Air Force Reserve Officers Gain Promotions

Vernal Reserve officers receive promotions per Air Force Times. Lt Col Kier, commander of Vernal Flight D, moved up from major, with nine months in command. Lt Bruce Watkins promoted to 1st Lt, others expected to advance in new training program. A meeting Tuesday at 8 pm in the field house will share reserve status details. Capt. Funeral Honors Chas H Kendall in Glines Ward

Funeral services for Charles H Kendall 46 a truck driver for Uintah County Road Dept were held Wednesday at Glines Ward chapel Vernal. Kendall died Sunday in Vernal hospital after long illness born March 30 1911 in Vernal to Charles Thomas and Lucy D Johnson Kendal survived by widow and mother four sons and three daughters two brothers a sister and several grandchildren.
