High Waters Hit Ashley Creek But Bridges Stand
Water in Ashley Creek reaches high levels for years and surrounds several bridges. Officials fear more floods but no bridge has given way yet. About 75 men from Vernal and nearby areas worked at the headgates to protect canals. The new Kabal ranch bridge dips into the water yet remains above danger. The Pike's Peak Ocean to Ocean Highway bridge across Ashley Creek is safe. Water also covered the east road approach as the flood persisted.
