Green River river navigation eyed for fruit trade push

Green River could be cleared for steamboats from Ouray to Green River station at an estimated cost of 108000 with dams and rapids removed. Denver capitalists urge a federal survey after a War Department engineer expressed encouraging views, noting existing gasoline launches and a bygone steam boat as precedents. The region’s rapid settlement and orchard growth would make river transport to the railroad economical for fruit shipments east and west.
