County Assessor Assessing Beer Licenses Changes in Utah County
The county commissioners heard county assessor Dork Walker discuss difficulties obtaining proper inventories from some businesses. A revision of beer licenses was approved replacing a flat $50 rate with three classes: Class A for on or off premise consumption at $50, Class B at $73, and Class C at $400 for taverns. A county survey indicated average licenses were $90 for boiled beer and $175 for draught beer. Due to a steel strike inventories will be increased. Puble Hare submitted an inventory and needs list and commissioners authorized partial purchases. Amounts for Mental Health Committee were raised from $140 to $309 to be drawn from the Poor Fund.
