Open Faced Sandwiches and Quick Dishes for Summer
OASTED open faced sandwiches satisfy hunger without heating the kitchen. Toast bread one side, add lunch meat, chili sauce, cheese, and broil until melted. Lamb chops pair with barbeque sauce and quick fire to remain cool. Serve with pineapple banana grapefruit. Chilled soups start meals, with jellied consomme or Vichyssois. Salad sandwiches work for warm weather luncheons. Here’s a delicious one.

Rock Point Canal Flume Opens For Irrigation
Farmers along the Rock Point Canal received their first irrigation in over two months as a 3 foot flume at the mouth of Stienaker Draw began operation. Heavy mountain runoff last July damaged the wash, closing irrigation to about 1 000 acres on 30 farms. Government approved funding last October 1 but delays held up completion until last week. The new flume, built after April 20, rerouted traffic on the Vernal Manila highway during construction. Three fourths of local crops in the dry area are gone. the open flume may save a second hay crop if water holds. About 14 second feet of water were turned over to upper farmers, half the normal year’s flow. The cw 160 foot flume was built by Lynn Creer of Provo, with 40 percent funded by Rock Point Canal Co and 60 percent by the government under flood control. Original estimates were $13,000.
