Echo Park Dedication Draws Large Crowds At Vernal Airport
Approximately 800 people viewed air tours over Vernal City and Dinosaur National Monument as Frontier Airlines DC-3 flights ran from 0 30 a m to 8 30 p m. The dedication ceremony at 1 p m featured Dr Ray E Spendrove and addressed by local officials and Frontier executives. About 2500 visitors attended the day with a spot landing contest won by Rodney Ross and two Utah National Guard jet shows. News crews from Denver Salt Lake City and elsewhere visited Vernal for coverage.

Sidney Porter Dies at 61 in Vernal
Sidney Porter 61 died at his Vernal home Wednesday night from cancer. Funeral set for Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Vernal Third Ward Chapel. Porter, a drilling contractor with Equity Oil in Rangely, had lived in Vernal a year and was born March 27, 1893 in Star Valley Wyoming. He married Lola Holloway in Casper August 1, 1917. Survivors include the widow, a son Loren J. Porter of Rangely, and two daughters Mrs. R. J. Waldtvedt of Shelby Montana and Mrs. Herbert Wiese of Cedar Rapids Town. Burial in Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials to Uintah County Cancer Society.

Ground was sold by Alice Murray. dedication prayer offered by Patriarch Bred G. Bingham. the new seminary will stand across from the United High School, part of the Latter-day Saint education program.
