Uintah County approves 12 mill school levy amid legal objections
Uintah County commissioners trimmed the Uintah County School District levy from 15 to 12 mills based on Utah statutes, despite the district’s insistence on 15 mills. County Attorney Clyde Johnson warned this 12 mill levy is legal only if aligned with statute, while other actions included appointing a deputy sheriff, budgeting rent for a community canning project, and proposing a 2 mill old age assistance levy expected to raise about 214000 in 1938.
