Wreck at Main and Vernal Ave Causes Multiple Injuries
A Saturday July 9 two car crash at the Main Street Vernal Avenue intersection left a 1909 Dodge Van on its side. Driver Sylvia A Schmidt 38 of Jensen and passengers Laura 16 and Preston 12 were treated and released after the collision with a 1969 Chevrolet driven by Dell Burris 24 and passenger Shawna Burris 3 of Vernal. The Burris car sustained $500 damage and the van was totaled. Police officers Darrell Lance and Mel Curtis, aided by the Highway Patrol, managed traffic at the busy intersection.

VW Involved in Naples Crash Injures Two
Utah Highway Patrol reports a three vehicle crash at 4 10 p m Tuesday July 5 in Naples causing 1675 in damages. Seventeen year old Tina Soderquist Vernal drove a 1966 VW left turn and was hit from behind by 17 year old William McComsey Jensen in a 1968 Ford XL. The impact pushed Soderquist into the left lane, struck by a swerving 1875 Peterbilt tractor piloted by Douglas Wall 35 Vernal. Damages: 900 to VW 700 to Ford 75 to tractor. Injured McComsey and Soderquist transported to Uintah County Hospital. Soderquist remained for treatment while McComsey released after care.
