Buckaroo Rodeo Set for July 21 at Uintah County Fair

The Little Duckarse Rodeo for ages 7 to 14 is scheduled for Saturday July 21 at 7 pm at the Uintah County Fair grounds. Admission tickets are available at the Hobby Shop. Registration for entrants like Little Buckfrogg with Woodey B Searle at Searle Gas Co Maeser Road. Proceeds go to the Ashley Ward Building Fund. Events include shotl and bareback riding horse chase calf roping brahma calf riding buffalo riding and specialty events.

Naples Man Injured at Neola Rodeo

A Naples man, Sheldon Clark, was injured at the Neola Ward rodeo on July 4 while riding bareback. He suffered a broken back and compressions after being thrown onto rocks. Clark received treatment at Roosevelt hospital and was placed in a back brace before returning home.

A town plans a welcome home for its Vernal National Guard unit returning from active duty August 12 with a possible public celebration. Glaucoma Eye Clinic Slated Here July 26

A glaucoma eye clinic will be held at Uintah High School on Thursday July 44 from 7 to 9:30 pm, announced by Alvin Weols of the Vernal Lions Club. Utah Ophthalmological Society and several health agencies will provide physicians and volunteers to screen about 20 Vernal Lions for glaucoma awareness. The event includes a short film and quick exams, highlighting glaucoma as a leading cause of blindness and the local prevalence estimates for Uintah County.

Pioneer Cabins Form Part of Summer Home

Two pioneer cabins are being moved from Linwood to Flaming Acres at Green dale to become part of a large summer home under construction. The cabins, once owned by Linwood pioneer Keith Smith, will flank the new wing with entrances from the main room. Francis Feltch owns the new home and is related to Mr Smith, aiming to preserve family relics.

A Tuesday last week fire destroyed a three car garage and contents at the Dave Rapmunsen property in Dey Fork. The Rapmunsen family was away at a rodeo in Meeker when the blaze occurred.

Fire destroys workshop. no insurance found

Neighbors helped fight a blaze that gutted a garage workshop. A 500 watt patio light globe reportedly started the fire, which rapidly spread through tools, mill equipment, furniture, and clothing. No insurance coverage was found and authorities were alerted after neighbors acted.

Steinaker Reservoir Half Full Project to Operate Next Season

Vernal Bureau of Reclamation officials report Steinaker Reservoir now contains about 19,000 acre feet of its 30,000 acre foot capacity with the service canal due for completion in late August for use in the 1963 season. High water flows have declined, but favorable runoff should provide adequate irrigation without reservoir water, allowing the Vernal Unit to benefit 15,000 acres with supplemental irrigation and municipal supply to Vernal Maeser and Wapites.

Senator Bennett to Speak at Vernal July 24 Fete

Senator Wallace F. Bennett of Washington will arrive in Vernal on July 24 to address the Patriotie Program at the Tabernacle at 11 30 AM. The theme Progress from Then to Now anchors a parade and community floats as businesses and groups are urged to enter. Five softball games start at 2 PM with girls and youth teams, followed by a Chicken in a Box lunch from 5 30 to 7 30 and a local square dance program. The Talent Show at 8 PM features Steve Schurz Kathy Caldwell and a group of Indian dancers among other acts.

The 6th annual High Uinta Boy Scout camp opened in Uinta Canyon with about 275 Scouts and leaders. The week features demonstrations of Scout skills, fun activities, and rank and merit badge advancement.
