Sun Dance Opens With Admission Charge

The Sun Dance of the Uintah Utes began last Saturday evening June 22 with about 50 in the ring and ended Tuesday noon. A new feature was a 60 cent admission fee charged to spectators, described as an unprecedented money making scheme attached to what is regarded as a sacred Ute worship dance.

Last Monday the county commissioners granted Louisville townsite a school district. John Burgess, Secretary, says a school building will be constructed next month. Trustees are G Peterson, S Wilson, and E Peterson. Guibert Peterson is chairman of the townsite company with Burgess as Secretary.

County Teachers Meeting In Vernal August Dates

Notice to teachers states the second County Teachers’ Convention will convene at Vernal Central School August 8 9 and 10 with State Certificate and Diploma examinations at Logan Ogden Salt Lake and Ephraim and August 10.
