Rangely Tops Ten in U S Oil Production
Early geologists found oil in Rangely Colorado after a long hunt. World War II boosted demand and new drilling tech cut the pay zone to days, making Rangely one of the nation’s top producing fields with 62 000 barrels a day from 478 wells and 13 400 more from Stanolind’s 115 wells. The town grew to over 3 000, with oil camps and pipelines linking Nebraska Utah and beyond. Outdoorsmen can find sport in surrounding mountains.
