Two western pioneers, Preston Nutter and James Horace Coltharp, died within ten days. Nutter, 60, famed cattleman of Uintah Basin, died in Salt Lake City after a heart ailment. Coltharp, 78, a Vernon stockman and merchant, died in Grand Junction after illness. Services held in Vernal and Hangley with funeral details noted.

Lehi Publisher Arthur Galsford Sr Dies at 64
Lehi publisher and printer Arthur Frank Galsford Sr aged 64 died at his home Wednesday noon from a heart attack after a long career in Utah journalism. Born December 18, 1871 in East Lake City he worked as a compositor in Salt Lake and Park City before publishing the Fillmore Progress with his brother. He later joined the Lehi Banner and for twenty one years ran the local printing plant and paper with the American Fork plant. He leaves his widow five sons five daughters 17 grandchildren one great grandchild and a brother.

Ernest Unterman a noted German American painter and editor from Milwaukee has been named director of Milwaukee’s Washington Park Zoo. He is remembered for Uintah mountain scenes and color sketches from Jones Hole. Unterman exhibited widely, including at Uintah County Fair, and in Vernal homes. He and his son Gerhard once studied wildlife art before moving to Milwaukee. He plans educational lectures and civic talks as zoo director, with support to fund his proposed programs.

Fighting Uintahs Edge Negro Ghosts In Thriller
In Vernal a crowd of over five hundred packed the Deseret Gym to watch Uintah defend home court against the renowned Negro Ghosts of Bronx City. The Ghosts, famed for a 100 game string and 10,000 wins, faced a tough hand but Uintah’s defense and Alexander’s 25 points carried them to a narrow 36 point finish in a high energy exhibition.
