Don Winn and his son John failed to appear in federal court at Salt Lake City and were last seen on the Colorful River area on the 7th. Bondsman names are John Wall James Winn and Alonzo McCarrel. McCarrel Lea held on 1000 dollar bond. a tench warrant for his apprehension remains active. Judge J T McConnell returns after months away to represent Raven Mining Co in Vernal, with efforts to survey a road to Colton station on the Rio Grande Western. The firm plans heavy ore shipments. McCastin linked to a claim on White River shipping a carload of ore.
The Ashley Valley pioneers gathered at the Vernal Opera House for their annual reunion last Friday. Attendees filled the venue as old settlers shared memories of early journeys and hardships, while poems by Mrs J Dyllman and Mrs Alma Taylor entertained. Mr Willison, Mr Whaitbeck, and Mr Munday contributed with readings and answers to questions, followed by a village dance that united generations in celebration of labor and plenty in the valley.
Near Mammoth a mine blast fatally injures Joseph A Duke of Santaquia while he worked night shift. A rock fragment struck his back, he climbed a ladder and fled before collapsing. he died en route to Provo after being taken from the scene. He leaves a wife and five children.
Taken to his home on the 6.201. G. W. tro this evening. Deceased was a brother of Cal and M.A Duke of this valley. The sad news fell with crushing force upon the aged mother who also resides here. The sympathy of the community is extended to the family.
