Huge Uintah Basin Gas Pipeline Sets Delivery Records
The Uintah Basin Pipeline, in service since November 7, extends 103 miles with a 20 inch diameter, delivering gas from Uintah and Duchesne counties to populated areas. Mountain Fuel Supply Co and Utah Natural Gas Co funded the project at about 4 million dollars, plus 1.5 million for gathering lines. A record daily delivery of 396,000 cubic feet was set on December 27. The operation uses a purge system with a weighted antifreeze filled rubber ball moving through the line to push liquids to the Price station for refinement. The ball travels roughly 80 miles between fields and Price.
