Neal Hanks Dies at Home in Nine Mile
Neal Hanks 63, step father of Mrs Hae Ashton, died Tuesday at his home in Nine Mile from a heart ailment. Survived by his widow, a daughter Donna of Salt Lake, stepson Van Stewart of Toovle, and Mrs Ashton. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Central Utah Water Unit Takes Shape
First steps toward forming a statewide organization to promote the central Utah water project were discussed at a Salt Lake County meeting. William R. Wallace was named temporary chairman with A W Watson as secretary. County reps from Box Elder, Weber, Tooele, Juab, Millard and Salt Lake attended, plus Uintah Duchesne Garfield Sanpete Carbon and Grand. The group aims to draft a plan of permanent organization and report back in February.

Creede Parker 22 of Randlett died after wandering from a battery in Leyte Island. He previously was reported missing in action January 1. Born in Nampa Idaho he moved to Randlett in 1930s and graduated Alterra High School class of 1942. Survived by his parents grandmother Mrs John Sheppard and two sisters Iona Banta and Mazie Tromley.

Max Seeley Declared Dead By War Dept
SSgt Max M Seeley aged 27 son of Azel and Mrs Seeley of Roosevelt was declared killed in action in the European Theater of Operations after a December 15 1944 mission. A graduate of Alterra High and BYU Provo he coached athletics for Uintah School District in 1941 42 and served from June 1942, previously stationed at Sioux Falls. Surviving are his parents three brothers and nine sisters. Memorial services are set for Sunday January 27 at 2 14 pm in the Ballard chapel.

Vernal group sketches pond projects for fish propagation
At the Uintah State Bank directors room a committee outlined plans for rearing ponds in favorable locations to stock streams. Officials led by Attorney Wallace Calder discussed wells, water flow, and state and federal funding to enhance fishing in the intermountain region with sites near Pot Creek, Diamond Mountain, East Park and Trout Creek. A follow up meeting was set to push funding and a pump was urged for Osks Park reservoir to aerate waters in calm seasons.

Vernal Marine Veterans Discharged Both Sums
Two Marine veterans Harold Weeks Jr and Otis Weeks Sr, sons of Mr and Mrs Otis Weeks, were discharged as civilians at the Mary Island Marine Separation Center California after service beginning in 1943. Otis served on Guam and Okinawa with the 22nd Marines Sixth Marine Division. Harold earned two purple hearts and served with the Eighth Marines in the Second Division. Harold visits his sister Ree Campbell in Denver while Otis is in Logan.

The Uintah Stake Tabernacle will host hundreds for a two day conference with special music by the Uintah high school chorus directed by Clyde Johnson. A Welfare meeting is scheduled for 6:30 pm in the new Seminary, followed by a priesthood leadership gathering at 9. Sunday includes a priesthood meeting at Vernal First Ward and a Mothers and Daughters session at the tabernacle.
