Salt Lake hearing backs Utah reservoir project progress

At a Salt Lake City hearing, officials including J S James and William Peterson praised the Uintah county reservoir project. Federal funds up to 50000 dollars were discussed to complete the Ashley Valley reservoir with irrigation water at about ten dollars per foot, aiming for spring work and dam construction.

County Road Plans Spent for Vernal Lapoint Route

Uintah County officials meet with State Road representatives in Salt Lake to approve 33600 for graveling the Vernal Lapoint road. Work to begin soon on grade A route and spring prep will start on the road between Vernal Maeser with attendees Byron Welch John Weaver Ray Labrum Leo Christensen Cooper and Lester Bingham.

Lions Follies at Uintah High Feb 23 24 25

The Vernal Lions club announced the Lions Follies will be staged at Uintah high school auditorium February 23 24 and 25 with 9 directors approving the plan. Chorus girls animal trainers and feature performers begin rehearsals in two days to be in top shape for the three night show. Also discussed were Fathers and Sons banquet during Boy Scout week February 8 and a past presidents and charter members banquet on March 22.

Funeral Services Held at Naples Chapel Prday for Ernest Glenn

Funeral services were held Friday at the Naples chapel for Ernest Glenn 61 of Salt Lake City who died Monday in Salt Lake City of pneumonia. The service included speakers A G Goodrich, George R Goodrich, and George A Slaugh, with music by the local quartet and soloists. Interment followed at Vernal Memorial Park. Glenn, born Sept 15, 1887 in Wallsburg, was a former Naples resident who moved to Salt Lake City two years ago. He is survived by three brothers and several sisters.

Mountain Lion Captured After Prolific Norns Hunt

In the Tablona district a multi day hunt yielded several mountain lions. Russell Squires Dusrd Campbell Sunbeam Cole Andrew Atwood Vernal Clarence White Tableau and Superintendent James Marr of Vernal led the party with eight dogs. Clarence White and Mr Orr each shot a lion. Orr’s was seven feet long and 140 pounds. White’s weighed about 100 pounds.

Pheasant Hunting Legislation Faces Lawmakers

Mrs Woolley Dies in Denver. Woolley Family Notified

Mrs Brown receives word of the death of her brother George Deforest Woolley born Golden City Missouri May 26 1872 to George W and Hannah Cocktin Woolley. He died in Denver January 9 with funeral January 13 at Graig. Surviving: brother Charles L Woolley of Denver. sisters Mrs John Mack, Mrs Mary McKay of Crate, Mrs Brown of Vernal. son Raymond Woolley of Meeker. daughter Frances of Oklahoma City. Also noted Vernal ward event January 31 at the Boout House with games dancing and refreshments hosted by the Vernal Second ward MTA.

Funeral Held for Ada Kelly Lambert in Ely New January Ninth

Impressive services were held at Ely for Mrs Ada Kelly Lambert wife of W H Lambert. The Sacred Heart Church offered mass. pallbearers included Les Hardy and Perry Giles. Interment was in Ely cemetery. Mrs Lambert died January 6 at 12:45 am at her Ely home after a long illness. She was born January 1904 in Vernal and studied art and music in Salt Lake City. Survived by husband W Harney Lambert, her parents B P Kelly and Mrs Kelly Jensen, sister Melba Lattner, and brothers Harold D Kelly and Bruce L Kelly. Her husband and mother were at her bedside. others attended as able.

Uintah Schools Receive $1 161 090 From State Equalization Fund

Uintah School district was apportioned $1 191 090 from the state school fund of $477 82728 on a basis of 3173 students. Previous apportionments to this district totaled $2 170 560 and the total to date is $3 331 650. Duchesne county has received $2 909 550 based on a school population of 27 1 and Daggett county $153 300 on 146.

Senators Seek Uintah Basin Junior College Bill

Senate Bill 54 introduced Tuesday requests construction of a Uintah Basin junior college at Roosevelt with $100 000 estimated cost.
