Local sheepmen have refused 16 cents per pound offer as wool prices may rise to 18 or 20 cents. Mackey Brothers have sold 5 000 pounds at 18 cents while state contracts reach 18. Uintah County group elected Enos Hennion president and Ed Samuels vice president. secretary H W Woolley and treasurer Nell Johnson. A steam powered shearing plant near Kennedy's station attracts investment, with about 3000 dollars subscribed and another thousand promised.

Two Women Fight in Justice Nebeker's Court

Mrs Alice Swain was fined five dollars after a Tuesday quarrel with Mrs Florence Hatch in Justice Nebeker's court. Testimony described a balanced bout with no blood, a back of head strike, and disputed blame. Swain's husband Emanuel defended. city attorney Woodonnell prosecuted. verdict deemed a fight with mutual fault.

Utah Legislature Convenes with Gardner as Senate President

The Utah legislature opens with Henry Gardner of Spanish Fork elected senate president and D W Robinson of Logan elected house speaker. Officers include Clark Cummings secretary, Heber L. Cummings, and Rev J E Carver chaplain, among others. Next week the house and senate plan to hear the governor and outline priorities such as electing a U.S. senator, prohibitory options, municipal charters, rail and fire commissions, roads, coal investigations, capitol funding, juvenile court reform, and state insurance roles.

Vernal Gun Club Names New Officers and Committees

The Vernal Gun Club held its final meeting at Mm Hirths offices last Monday night. Stan Ashton was named to lead the rifle committee and a five member general committee was formed to arrange a February gun dance. Brig Carter elected shotgun captain and John Meindrews named rifle captain. Directors elected include Walt McCoy S F P Dillman William Anderson Dan H Hillman Stan Ashton Grant Carpenter T W O Donnell. Alice Isely, former Wilcox Congregational teacher, is in a dispute with Oscar Zaring. The homestead near Ranciett is noted as a good property.
