J H Tott government agent visited last week to check irrigation certificates accompanied by William Witbeck. Uintah Pacer Co manager Henry Preske planned winter Milwaukee trip. R B Leigh of Denver discussed a large placer deal. Local health good despite colds. warm spell loosening river ice and the possibility of ice break-up soon.
Mrs Annie B Rowden died suddenly at the Uintah Rathway office from heart failure yesterday afternoon. She had come from Texas to Vernal to stay with her son who works at the Uintah office. A funeral will be held today at 4 pm conducted by Undertaker Sol Trim with brief services at Vernal cemetery.
Verna Olive Arle, six months old and daughter of Mr. and Mrs LEX Arle, died Tuesday morning from pneumonia after about a week of illness. Funeral held Wednesday afternoon with Rev Oliver B Loud of the Congregational church presiding and assisted by President Don D Colton. attended by close family and friends. The Ericson family, new in town after six weeks, were noted for their sympathy from the community.
The Vernal Commercial Club met at Uintah Abstract Company offices on Tuesday night despite bad weather. About half the membership attended and heated discussions led to ideas for marketing and growth. Governorpry was named an honorary member and President Thomas W ODorneuil announced committee appointments across Finance Membership Advertising Social Program Transportation Local Improvements Auditing Industrial Immigration Railroads and more.
Emma Roberts wife of Ephtriam Reberia passed away at the family home in Naples Ward after a ten day illness. She died Monday evening despite medical care. The funeral service is set for Heaven at eight o clock today. Lovse and Albert Goodrich will lead services. The mourners extend condolences to the stricken family.
A newly built social hall at Boneta measuring 40 by 60 feet burned last week. The facility, used solely for social gatherings, was destroyed and officials suspect a defective flue caused the fire. No insurance covered the loss.
School started on Monday January 1 with full classes and a disrupted holiday break lasting a week and a half. Students voted to shift morning start from 8 to 9 am, while end of week plans remain. Weather brings mild days despite mud and the period includes Stevenson’s Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde reading in the Mis ward ball.

A regional rail project in the Grand River area advances two miles of grade on the Macker division as plans unfold to connect Rangely with Grand Junction.
