Atomic Energy Tagged to Solve Drought Problems
Secretary of Interior Fred A. Seaton told the American National Cattlemen's Association in Phoenix that low cost atomic energy could, in the foreseeable future, convert salt water to fresh water and pump it via pipelines into dry areas. He said President Eisenhower will seek additional means to aid farmers and stockmen as drought stretches across the southern Great Plains. Seaton noted ongoing investments in water resource programs by the Interior Department, the Corps of Engineers, and the Agriculture Department, totaling billions over the years.
