Uintah Gas Ha. Added Over Quarter Million to Uintah County
In 1929 Uintah Gas Company spent nearly a quarter of a million dollars in Ashley Valley to bring natural gas to Vernal. Local labor filled payrolls, heating costs dropped, and about 114 gas customers use one third of a million cubic feet daily. The venture spurred plans for a brick and tile plant near gas wells and potential expansion to serve phosphate mines and a nearby smelter, signaling future industrial growth.
