PSC approves Utah Gas pass through increase
The Public Service Commission approved an $83.0 percent pass-through increase for Utah Gas Service Co to offset higher wholesale charges from Northwest Pipeline Co and Altonah Plant. The rate hike, effective Jan 2, followed a December tentative approval and a December hearing. A March 1 hearing on a $200,000 exploration allowance was continued after notice issues.

Tourists survive Red Cloud Loop mishap in Utah mountains
Louis Legac and Bil Locke, both of Oklahoma City, spent a weekend in the Uinta Mountains after choosing the Red Cloud Loop. Their car became stuck on Dry Fork Canyon and they endured a cold night before reaching Trout Creek Rangers Station eight miles away. They cooked rice with bouillon and eaten applesauce, then were aided by Ranger Mike Bergfeld near Twin Parks.

Bomb hoax at Uintah High forces brief evacuation
