Victory Highway Emerges as Possible Primary Route
The Vernal Salt Lake drive pushes the Victory Highway as a promising federal aid route covering about 260 000 acres from Blake John to Coyote Basin. The irrigation project garners support from Congressman Don B Colton after data delivery from the Vernal Commercial Club. Government engineers may begin detailed work this spring as stakeholders expect an appropriation. Ben P Kelly and Stanley Ashton consolidate control of Jensen and Vernal stores, expand stock, seek outside markets, and plan a store rebrand. The Commercial Club intensifies lobbying, aiming to classify the Victory Highway as a primary route, with final Agriculture Secretary approval likely later, otherwise it becomes a secondary project.
