Ute Tribe reorganizes enterprises under new management plan
Ute Tribe signs agreement with Roosevelt firm to design a comprehensive management plan for all tribal enterprises. On Dec 19 the Tribal Business Committee authorized McNeil Duncan to run the enterprises through Feb 13, 1978. The plan creates a Financial Review Board an Enterprise Board of Directors and a general manager to oversee Ute Leathers Bottle Hollow Livestock Enterprises Ute Lanes Service Station Ute Research Lab and the Domestic Water System.

Rees Madsen has been named acting manager of the White River Oil Shale Erdenty a joint venture of Phillips Petroleum Sunoco Energy Development and Sohio Petroleum. Madsen on loan from Sohio serves as environmental affairs coordinator and works from Vernal Utah replacing Earl H Ramsey promoted to VP natural gas at Sun Gas. The project began in 1974 to jointly develop two Utah oil shale leases with Phillips and Smedeo holding one lease and Sohio the other.
