Accident at Whiterocks leaves man likely to live

A detailed telephone report from John Ferrell of Whiterocks describes an accident yesterday that severely injured B. F. Sanders, superintendent of the Indian school there. Sanders faces surgery and possible long hospital care after being struck by flying debris. doctors Lloyd and Donnell attended him and he will be moved to Fork Duchesne hospital. Sanders is a well known Uintah Basin figure with a wife and three children.

Burlington may buy Colorado Midland and push to Salt Lake

A Denver dispatch reports the Burlington route may acquire the Colorado Midland and extend construction to Lake George. Plans include connecting Newcastle to Salt Lake via a new line and using the South Park route to reach Salt Lake, shortening distance to Salt Lake by about 160 miles from the Midland line and 225 miles from the Denver Rio Grande. Andrew Vernon Undergoes Surgery for Bone Infection in Salt Lake City

Andrew Vernon, who traveled to Glenwood Springs weeks ago, was operated on December 23 at LD 8 hospital in Salt Lake City for osteomyelitis. Dr Baldwin, a leading bone specialist, says he cannot walk for two to three months but is expected to recover without amputation. Vernon has not worked since early August and the condition was not caused by a prior ankle injury. The doctor notes the illness had been developing for some time and Vernon will stay in the hospital about two months, with some loss of movement on his left side.
