Myton Man Steals Beavers Hidden On Green River
George Temphill and companions trapped beaver on the Green river for the state fish and game department. While camp moved, 20 beaver hides were stolen. Deputy game warden Dr. Thompson traced them to Fred Brown of Myton who led to the hidden hoard about four miles off the trail up a cliff. Arty Mitehall of Duchesne county arrested Brown and he was turned over to Uintah sheriff. Preliminary hearing set for today. Beavers are valuable, worth several hundred dollars.

Major James Hood longtime general manager of the Uintah Railway died at Grand Junction hospital Sunday afternoon after injuries from a car accident near Watson. He was a World War II veteran and had been praised for his leadership at the Vernal line. His funeral will be held in Grand Junction with burial alongside his first wife. he leaves two children.

Harriett Perkes Early Pioneer Buried Tuesday
Harriett Louiss Parken an Ashley Valley pioneer died after a long illness and was buried Tuesday at Vernal Cemetery. Born April 2 1862 in an immigrant camp on the Balmun river she helped settle Ashley Valley in the 17th century era alongside her husband Ephriom Perkas. Surviving are five of ten children and siblings including Elizabeth Clark and George Clark. Funeral services were held in the First Ward meeting house with eulogies by John N Davis Wilbur Boward and others and interment followed at the Vernal cemetery.
