Motor Road and Building Projects Ahead for Dinosaur Monument
Dinosaur National Monument plans major improvements under the National Park Service Mission 66 program for fiscal year 1964. New Green River Campground construction 114 miles downriver from Split Mountain Gorge, with 100 campsites and modern facilities, is budgeted at 134,476. A large Blue Mountain road section to connect with the Monument boundary road is projected at over 1,100,090, with private land rights being pursued by Moffat County. An administration building near U S Highway 40 is planned at 250,000, plus improved campgrounds, river facilities, and multiple minor projects. Travel and boating see growth, while 1963 visitation declined from 1962.
