Phosphate Project Promises Vast Uintah Basin Growth
The Vernal area phosphate project spurs a series of developments. A new 138 kV power line, 100 miles long, cost 2.5 million and ties into Castle Gate, with branches to Ashley and Vernal, will cut power bills by about 22 percent. A $125,600 gas line supports the mill, and a railroad spur to Vernal is under optimistic study by Denver and Rio Grande as well as Union Pacific.
