Burton & Samuels offer confectionery outfits and a clothing line with guarantees, plus baby to father woollen wear. Displays from Jensen's and Ashley Co Op push clothing and a Columbia Graphophone prize listings. Walter Liosd Drug Co features Chamberlain's Salve for skin ailments.
C J Peacher of Independence visited the office Wednesday to hear E W Davis Co’s liberal offer in their display. Joseph H H Hardy bought a half interest in Weber Timothy’s ranch near Quray for 1500 dollars. J M Rosebery the retiring secretary of Dry Gulch Irrigation Co spent several days in Vernal during the week.
Phil Stringham bought 400 head of sheep from Heber Timothy at 3460 ahead. Corporal Crowley and Private Anderson of Company K, 29th Infantry, traveled from Fort Duchesne with vegetables and fresh pork, leaving with a four horse load. MoA Ross reported four inches of snow near Theodore and settlers hauling hay from Vernal with hay prices at Theodore around 30 dollars per ton. Ward conference of the Vernal ward will be held tomorrow with three sessions at the watch house. changes to organizations are expected and large attendance anticipated.
Walter G. English of Elgin Utah filed with the state engineer an application for 1000 acre feet of water to be diverted from the Green river in Grand county. Water will be taken from Tescher canyon creek fork of the Green river and carried to 1200 acres irrigated by a diverting dam headgate and two ditches. The application supplements one filed October 14 1949.
Ifyrum Daud and Ward Pack visited Vernal on business. William Nischwitz from Leland and Joseph Bravell and others from Dry Gulch and Roosevelt districts were in town. The DQ Club met at Mrs Orser’s and the county land office saw activity. Travelers report a rough Priceroad with deep ruts despite mild weather. The Opera House will present The Heron Dutchman of 76 with local talent.
The county adopted a new record system with a detachable leaf treyloof device and an Underwood typewriter. The machine is described as splendid and efficient for recording documents. The cost is about 112 dollars.
Mr S DB Rush of Independence vicinity prepares to prove up his homestead with water for 111 acres. He planted twelve acres of alfalfa and twenty acres of grain last season. Mr S S L Roland of the Independence townsite company will supervise building operations in about three months. The new hotel finishing touches will be ready for guests in a few days.
